In order to find a 3d animation software you should determine what you need it for:
Is it for a 3d animation video or just creating characters? Is it for amateur usage? How much money do you have to spend on that 3D Animation Software?
Animation Software
There are lots of other questions you could be asking your self, but let us start with those.
* So, do you want to use your animation software in order to create an animation video? If not, pass to the next question, this one is not for you! 
In case this is what you were looking for, you probably have lots of time to create a video animation, since creating about 30 seconds of such video can take from 3 hours to say 30 hours, depends on the other questions, depends on your skills, and of course on your time management (Read more here in this post – How to Become an Animator) – something most animators tend to neglect when starting a project. I don’t have a specific software to recommend to you at the moment, I simply want you to be aware what you should be asking yourself before doing such a step towards purchasing a 3d animation software.
What I could and would suggest you is to buy a simple animation software first to see whether it is something you can manage yourself or would ask a professional animator or would like to use a professional animation software such as Autodesk.

* Regarding the 2nd question you should ask yourself, I guess that for most of you reading this post, the previous paragraph answered this question as well. But – you must understand that if you have a time limitation, which also amateur animators have most of the times, you will have a long learning curve, that will put you through tough times creating the animation you want to bring out live.
Take that in mind. It’s very important.
Learn the software before you begin working on it, or you will find yourself wasting precious time during the project wondering why its not working the way it should.

* The 3rd question is THE question now days. No one has thousands of dollars to spend on an animation software, in order to create characters, or even to buy a 3d without glasses TV. People want something to serve their goals, have it cheap, available, here and now. The most important thing is to be familiar with the software, to see who recommends it to you, has he/she tried it before, what did they use it for, what was the price, etc. Before letting you move on with the search – here is a list of 3D Animation Software – The best in the market:
- Autodesk Maya – The most used 3d software in Film industry. And probably the most used one too.
- Blender 3d – the most popular free and open source 3d animation software – That’s the way it is with OS Software
- Autodesk Softimage - By many users considered to have the best 3d animation tools. The latest version is famous for its ICE environment – Havent tried this one yet. I know, I know…
